Playing North Geelong, day one saw us dismiss the opposition for 171 off 49 overs. The wickets being shared around with 9 wicket takers in all, the best of those being Alex Brittain (2/21) & Jake Hickey (2/13). Michael Crossett continues to do the job for us as wicket keeper with another 2 catch's & again keeping the byes to a minimum. Michael Wakefield's 2 catch's in gully also worthy of mention. With 4 overs to bat Jack Ryan (8no) & David Sanzaro (3no) saw us through to the close ...

Geelong City batted first & at one stage were in a commanding position at 2/103 off 30 overs. Full credit to our bowlers for sticking to the task at hand which saw the next 8 wickets fall for 33 runs to dismiss Geelong City for 136. The main wicket-takers being Alex Brittain (2/12), Mitch McDonald (2/15) & George Gray (2/1). With 4 overs to face on day one we finished at 2/20, losing the wickets of openers Jack Ryan & Mitch McDonald, much to the ire of coach Gerry.

Just want to say thanks to Sam Lowe, Jake Hickey, Michael Crossett and Jordan Rossi who have all helped me out playing in the 7ths this season so far.

Michael Crossett has done a great job keeping in the 7ths so far and has a bright future as a keeper / batsman. Keep up the good work Michael.

Jake Hickey did well in the field last week when we faced an experienced Highton side and we fell short when we batted but Jake saved us quite a few runs in the field through his enthusiam ...

Round 2 was a two day game which was played against an undermanned South Barwon side. On the first day we batted making a very good score of 5/235 off 49 overs. The stand out scores of the day were Jack Ryan with 52 retired and Jake Hickey also retiring on 49. Other useful contributions came from Mick Wakefield-16,Alex Brittain 16-retired hurt (Alex has since made a full recovery with everything in working order) and Sam Lowe with 18 not out.

EBCC v StAlbans/ Breakwater

20/20 Match.

Round 1 saw the EBCC U/17's take on last years runners-up St Albans/Breakwater at Breakwater Reserve. Both teams have changed significantly in their make-up since last years grand final so it was unknown what to expect from what we knew was a good side last year. EBCC lost the toss and was thrown into the field. Keeping it tight early Tom Stewart and Tom Elkington kept the opposition to 1 for 29 after the completion of 8 overs.
Welcome everyone to the start of a new season of cricket.

Before anything else, please read the following message from your coach, Gerry.

Our training kicked off earlier than normal, a month ago on 8th Sept. Extremely good numbers attended on our Monday and Wednesday training sessions. After shaking a little rust off, the boys worked hard in the nets, not only on their strengths, but trying to improve on their weaknesses. It's great to see new inclusions from last years U/13 PREMIERSHIP ...

Tony Wakefield and Andy Hughan would be ahead in my book. Neither of them were particularly quick, but there control and ability to make the ball talk were exceptional.

A great effort by our boys. However, as we know finals are unpredictable and past performances mean very little.

Playing at Winters Reserve on a warm and sunny Autumn's night, with the witches hats placed well back, the scene was set for this cut throat Semi Final.

Having lost the toss and being asked to bowl, George opened from the northern end. Leopold batted steadily, making ...

Once again we bowled first, and with the witches hats a healthy distance from the pitch, Nigel took the new ball, but it wasn't until the 7th over that East got its first wicket with George clean bowling the batsman with his first ball. The score then 1 for 24. Four overs later, Keegan came on and claimed two wickets in a row, with Toppa taking a good catch and the next being bowled, unfortunately he missed his hat trick, but at 3 for 32, things were looking good. Sam bowled the 13th over, and ...

Every so often you see bowlers who seem to deliver the ball more smoothly and with less apparent effort than most, checking off all points in the textbook.

For me, at east, the guys who come to mind are Quicky and Warby. Even when he played for North and was getting our blokes out, Quicky was fun to watch. Warby is someone i've actually used as an example to kids at hardwicket training of how to approach the crease in a controlled, steady manner so that you maintain balance and power at ...

They started cautiously due to some excellent bowling from Tom and James. Tom got a wicket in his fifth over and Jimmy two wickets in his last over. Tom's figures were 6 overs 4 maidens 1/6 and Jimmy's 6 overs 3 maidens 2/12.

After a good opening twelve overs from Tom and Jim, Highton were 3/21. Joel and Bill took over from Tom and Jim and kept the pressure on Bill took 1/6 and Joel 0/6 from their 4 overs, after 20 overs Highton were 4/40.

We journeyed downed to Anglesea and were presented with a beautiful green and smooth ground to play on and after losing the toss, we were asked to bowl. And bowl the boys certainly did, with terrific line and length (only 8 wides), together with some outstanding ground fielding and in particular the catching, Anglesea were bundled out for 36 in the 17th over.

A mighty effort as Anglesea have some very good batsmen.

Last week we made 8/192

We opened up with our big guns Tom and James, who both struggled for line and length early. The pitch was very wet from overnight sprinklers I suspect, this made the pitch very slippery and difficult to run in hard.

Our first four bowlers bowled well without success, BPH opening partnership was 71 and they were batting sensibly before they lost their first wicket to Mitch Mcdonald after a fantastic catch from Joel. Jake came on to bowl and had immediate success, ...

Leopold batted first, and despite being 1 for 0 in the first over, courtesy of a caught and bowled by Alex, amassed a formidable total of 6 for 141 off 27 overs.

Despite the total, East's bowlers did perform extremely well given the fact the ground was very fast. Sam was the most successful bowler taking 2 for 8, Alex, Cody and Dylan taking 1 wicket each, with Keegan throwing in well to execute a run out. Others who bowled tightly were Gav, Starky and Keegan.

East bowled first and ALL bowlers bowled really well with only 10 balls not hitting the pitch, a great improvement, well done boys. With this good bowling, Marshall were restricted to 73 runs.

Single wickets went to Cody Kennedy and Dylan McMahon, whilst the third came from a run out.

A pleasing aspect of the bowling performance was that we sent down eight "maidens", however, we also managed to bowl 31 Wides in the total of 82 and this is one area we need to concentrate ...

I would like to introduce a topic which should cause plenty of conjecture and also provide us with a laugh. Several years ago (1992/93 after we had won a 1sts premiership ) after a junior presentation night at the old clubrooms, Leigh Hooley, Mark Hayes, Chris Duff and I (all members of the premiership team) decided that we had not celebrated enough and proceeded to have several ales until the wee hours of the morning. At some stage during the morning a suggestion was made ( from memory by Duffy) ...

Round 7 saw us playing at Oberon High School, (without Gavin or Keegan), against formidable opponents in Anglesea. Dylan won the toss and elected to bowl. Wickets fell at steady rate with Jayden and Toppa each getting two with Alex, Sam and George getting one each. Hayden kept beautifully for the 28 overs with clean glove work collecting 1 catch and recieving great throws from the fielders to also be involved with 3 run outs. Two of the throws came from Alex (who also took a catch), the other ...
