U/13 update "V" Leopold.
After winning the toss and batting first, the U/13's set a healthy total of 1/ 132 off their allotted 26 overs.
Our batting was a mixture of strong defence, as shown by the loss of only one wicket, and some powerful hitting and solid partnerships.
Top score was 28 n.o. from Ryan Stark, Cody Kennedy with 22 n.o , Keegan Doherty with 15 n.o. Hayden McMahon with a quick fire 10 n.o. and
an even spread of runs across the board. Most impressive was the respect all batsmen placed upon their "wicket" and the manner in which they all mixed tight defence with good attacking strokes.
Our bowlers bowled a nice tight length and their line was impecable. The "wides" count was down on recent weeks and I hope we can continue in this part of our game.
Sam Lowe, Hayden McMahon, Ryan Stark, Alex Britton and Gavin Leather all got wickets. Our wicket keepers in Hayden Mc Mahon and Alex Britton have been good all season and continue to get the job done.
In the field once again, the boys worked well. Jayden Stapelton, Gavin Leather George Grey and "Toppa" continued on from last weeks good work, whilst Nigel Zyambie and Cody Kennedy combined to instigate a brilliant run out with a direct hit at the bowlers end. A solid performance all round in the field. Four catches including two "caught and bowled" and two wickets "bowled" confirm our efforts at training are not going unrewarded.
This week we take on Anglesea at home I,m sure that if we continue to perform at training, the results will come.
All the best Bruce.
