Under 13 East Belmont vs Marshall GRAND FINAL Empty Under 13 East Belmont vs Marshall GRAND FINAL

After losing just one game for the year, our under 13 boys made it through the Grand Final. The game was due to be played on Friday Night (14th March), but due to the "Hot weather rule", the game was cancelled and re-scheduled for Monday 17th March. Unfortunately Monday was even hotter and the game cancelled again.
Although a disappointing way to finish the year, the efforts throughout the season by finishing on top of the ladder were rewarded by East Belmont Under 13 being declared PREMIERS for 2007/08.
Congratulations go to ALL players, (Alex Brittain, Keegan Doherty, George Gray, Codey Kennedy, Gavin Leather, Sam Lowe, Dylan McMahon, Hayden McMahon, Jayden Stapleton, Ryan Stark, Stephen Topouzakis and Nigel Zyambie). Every one of these players can feel proud that they have been part of a very, very good TEAM.

A huge THANK YOU must go to Bruce Doherty who took on the coaching role without notice at the start of the year. I know the kids enjoyed training and playing the games under his guidance.
Also thanks to Gerard as Junior Co-ordinater, who was always approachable and sorted out a couple of issues for us throughout the year.
To Charles, who although made his appearance later in the season due to extended holidays, was of great assistance on game days with scoring and assisting Bruce on training nights.
Drew and Adam, cannot go unrecognised. The kids benefitted greatly by receiving some excellent coaching. The boys did listen and their performances did improve as a result of their advice.
To the parents who supported the team on game day, thank you.

To finish off, Under 13 cricket is not about winning games but teaching the young cricketers how to play cricket, not only batting, bowling and fielding, that is the technical side of things, but also how to conduct yourself on and off the field with sportsmanship, being part of a team and respecting your team mates, opposition and umpires. To achieve all this AND win the premiership was just sensational.

Hope to see you all back next season
