Round 1 v Grovedale

Welcome to Division One. We came up against a very strong Grovedale outfit first game, we batted first and were dismssed for 64 in the 29th over. Our top scorer was Jake Hickey 15 (1st game with the club) and he was closely followed by Joel Jahn with 13. Mitch McDonald batted well to be not out 7 at the end.

Govedale batted for 26 overs and were 5/123 overnight. Mitch Thomas had 2/10 from his three overs.

The next week Grovedale batted on for another 17 overs and were dismissed for 200. Jack Ryan finished with the best figures 3/23 from 4 overs. The last two wickets were consecutive balls from Jack.

We needed to bat for 30 overs, but unfortunately we were dismissed in the 23rd for 54. Our best bat this innings was James McMahon with 12. Caught by a fantastic catch, but a good lesson learnt in keeping the ball on the ground.

Beaten outright by an innings and 82 runs.

Round 2 v Nth Geelong

NGCC batted first and were dismissed in the final over for a total of 186. Our best bowler was Joel Jahn with 6 overs 3/11. Mitch McDonald and Jackson Brennan both picked up 2 wickets. Jackson also took two great catches.

Our turn to bat and we started well with a good opening partnership from Bill and Renin (36). Bill made a well compiled 21 and Renin was solid with 12. James McMahon and Michael Crossett came together and put on 80 runs for the third wicket. James was excellent making 55 retired and Michael batted well for his 20. We were 3/138 after 42 overs needing another 48 runs from 13 overs. Unfortunately we lost our last 7 wickets for 34 runs. Joel batted well again for 15 of those runs. A lesson learnt by the lower order to keep your head down and keep your eye on the ball when your trying to score quickly.

It was a good game and we were more competitive than the previous game, only going down by 15 runs.

Round 3 v Newtown
