EBCC V BELL POST HILL Saturday FEB 9
Bell Post Hill Cricket Club have a new hard wicket ground, thanks to the new Melbourne Bypass. The ground and the pitch are fantastic. Gone are the days of playing on the wind swept Ghobi Desert that they called a cricket ground !!!!
Bell Post Hill won the toss and elected to bowl.
Renin and Michael Crossett got us off to a steady start of 51 after 17 overs. Renin was first to go caught behind for 11, Michael followed soon after for a well made 26. James and Tom batted steadily to take us into break at 2/81. James and Tom picked up the pace after break, James made 20 and Tom a hard hitting 46.
Mitch McDonald and Jack came together and put on 18 before Jack was out caught for 8 and Mitch was run out for 12. Mitch Thomas made 3 and Michael Wakefield 1, but we were looking for quick runs at the time to be fair to them. Joel and Nathan put on 34 for the ninth wicket partnership, a valuable contribution which took our team total to 8/192. Congratulations to Joel for making his highest score for EBCC 25no, we look forward to some wickets next week Joel, maybe another career best ????
Overall a good effort, but we will need to bowl well as the ground is very quick.
Good luck to those boys playing this afternoon.
See you Monaday night and don't forget to sell your chocolates and return the money.
