Round 5 V St Joey's Empty Round 5 V St Joey's

Post  Jermone Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:05 am

We played St Joey's on Saturday in another one day game. We lost the toss and St Joey's batted first. Jimmy and Billy opened up the bolwing and Jimmy got the early break through caught and bowled. After being 1 for 10, Joey's then added 100 without loss with some good bowling from Mitch McDonald & Jake Hickey. Jack Ryan made the breakthrough, he bowled well 4 overs for 22 bowling at the end of the innings. Mitch thomas, michael wakefield, shiva and billy claffy all toiled away without luck. Overall 3/154 was a good effort.

Our innings started well with Billy Claffy hitting the ball well including a big six over the bowlers head, Mick Crossett continued his good form with a well made 26, Billy was the first to go for a hard hitting 29, probably the best he has hit the ball all year. Jimmy was next in for only 7 overs before he had to retire to a quick fire 30 (Jimmy played in the 5ths in the afternoon and made a excellent 56, Well Done Jimmy great day with the bat.) Shiva chipped in with 17 not out. Overall we were very competitive and we just went down again.

Well done to Mtich Thomas in the 7ths 2 for again, Michael Wakefield and Billy Claffy also played seniors well done to you to boys.

We have another one day game this weekend, and then it's the Christmas break. The club has a christmas break up next Saturday and all the U/15 players and parents are more than welcome to come along. Tell your parents that it starts at 6.30pm at the rooms and to bring a casserole or salad.

This week's Award goes to Billy Claffy, for his hard hitting innnings.
