Under 13 East Belmont vs Anglesea 22/2/2008 Empty Under 13 East Belmont vs Anglesea 22/2/2008

We journeyed downed to Anglesea and were presented with a beautiful green and smooth ground to play on and after losing the toss, we were asked to bowl. And bowl the boys certainly did, with terrific line and length (only 8 wides), together with some outstanding ground fielding and in particular the catching, Anglesea were bundled out for 36 in the 17th over.
A mighty effort as Anglesea have some very good batsmen.
What can we say about Nigel, after claiming a wicket with pace in his first over, he then reverted to spin and captured another 2, finishing with the fine figures of 3 for 1. Hayden continues to be among the wickets, this week claiming 3 for 0. Outstanding. Other wicket takers were Ryan, Keegan, Gav and Toppa.

We began our run chase cautiously with Dylan, Sam and Gav batting sensibly, picking up the singles, again with impressive running between wickets. Keegan was next in, and with some controlled agressive batting, was able to secure the win in the 8th over. Keegan finished with 22no.

A time out was called so the boys could have something to eat, on the menu was BBQ sausages, courtesy of the Anglesea support crew. Thanks go to them for their hospitality.

The batsmen continued to score well after the break with that man Nigel having a day out, smashing his way to 18no. Codey chipped in with a typical hard hitting 22no and Sam (batting a second time) finished with a well made 21no. All other batsmen contributed well as we only lost 2 wickets, finishing with 147 runs.

This game again was won, not by individual performances, but by EVERYONE playing their role and contributing.
Thanks to Charles for scoring and Bruce for Umpiring and organising his players.

This week is the last round before finals. We play Newcomb AT HOME.
See you all at training
