Under 13 East Belmont vs Leopold -7th March 2008- Semi Final
With the Home and Away games over, East Belmont finished on top of the ladder with 11 wins and only one loss.
A great effort by our boys. However, as we know finals are unpredictable and past performances mean very little.
Playing at Winters Reserve on a warm and sunny Autumn's night, with the witches hats placed well back, the scene was set for this cut throat Semi Final.
Having lost the toss and being asked to bowl, George opened from the northern end. Leopold batted steadily, making 25 before losing their first wicket in the eighth over with Dylan being the bowler. Single wickets to George, Sam, Alex, Keegan and two run outs saw Leopold slump to 7 for 54 in the 17th over. Another 10 overs were bowled and with two more run outs, Leopold managed to compile a competitive score of 9 for 97.
A feature of the bowling was the lack of wides that were bowled. Only 9 were called which is a vast improvement from previous games. Well done bowlers.
Alex and Hayden opened the batting followed by Sam and Dylan, these four batsmen withstood the new ball without losing their wickets getting the score to 0 for 23 off 8 overs, this set a good platform for the other batsmen to build. This they did with some positive batting and good running between wickets. Those batsmen who made double figures were Keegan 19no, Sam 14no, Dylan 11no, and Cody 10.
We passed their score in the 24th over. Congratulations go to ALL the players.
We went into this match without Gav due to family committments, but he will be back next week for the grand final.
Look after yourselves this week, as we need you FIT and full of ENTHUSIASM for this week is THE GRAND FINAL
See you at training
