Under 13 East Belmont vs NDSC 29th Feb 2008

Once again we bowled first, and with the witches hats a healthy distance from the pitch, Nigel took the new ball, but it wasn't until the 7th over that East got its first wicket with George clean bowling the batsman with his first ball. The score then 1 for 24. Four overs later, Keegan came on and claimed two wickets in a row, with Toppa taking a good catch and the next being bowled, unfortunately he missed his hat trick, but at 3 for 32, things were looking good. Sam bowled the 13th over, and he too was on a hat trick, and like Keegan missed the hat trick but got his third wicket in the over next ball. At the end of this over, Newcomb had slumped to 6 for 37.
Steady batting then took Newcomb to a final score of 8 for 110 off the allocated 27 overs. Wicket takers for East were Sam with 3/9, Keegan 2/5, Hayden 1/5 and George 1/12. (there was also a run out). Everyone fielded well, backing the bowlers up, with Keegan, Toppa, Alex and Hayden taking catches. This really helps in supporting the bowler, keeping pressure on the batsmen thereby restricting the final score.

After a short break, we padded up for battle. After 9 overs we were 1 for 49 and going O.K., but the loss of a wicket slowed down the scoring rate, with the next 10 overs only yielding 15 runs.
This left us with 9 overs to score the 47 runs required for victory. Not only did we score the 47 runs, but added another 28, finishing with a final score of 3 for 140.
Keegan continued his good form with strong strokeplay making 28no (5 fours),
Alex also made a huge contribution with 24no (2 fours, 1 six),
Hayden and Gav chipped in, both making 14no.
